BamaCentral Courtside: Alabama 109, LSU 88
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball picked up yet another blowout victory in Coleman Coliseum on Saturday night, downing LSU by a final score of 109-88.
The Crimson Tide set a program record with it being the sixth game this season scoring at least 100 points.
Five Alabama players scored at least 12 points in the win. Mark Sears continued his stellar play, leading all scorers with 21 points on 5-of-11 shooting, though he missed all five of his 3-point attempts.
Latrell Wrightsell and Aaron Estrada added 19 and 18 points, respectively, combining for seven made shots from downtown. Grant Nelson and Rylan Griffen each scored 12, rounding out double-figure scoring for ever member of the starting five.
After the game, Oats signaled his displeasure with the defensive effort from his team. LSU shot 42 percent from the field for the game but made 39 percent of its 3-point attempts, and scored over 1.1 points per possession for the game.
"I do think this is a team that can win [the SEC]. And we're going after it as hard as we can. But if we don't fix our defense [...] it's gonna be really hard to win it," Oats said. "What kind of a team do we really want to be? Do we just want to outscore everybody? It worked tonight, it won't work every night."
Next up, Alabama has a road trip to Georgia, who sits at 4-3 in conference play following a Saturday loss at Florida. The game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on SEC Network.
