Former Alabama Basketball Forward Richard Hendrix Named 2024 SEC Legend
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Richard Hendrix was named Alabama's representative for the 2024 SEC Legends class, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Every year during the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, one great from each of the 14 member institutions of the SEC is honored as a member of that year's class of legends. Each legend is honored at halftime of his or her respective school's first game of the tournament at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Hendrix played at Alabama from 2005-2008 under head coach Mark Gottfried. The power forward was named Alabama Mr. Basketball and 5A Player of the Year during his high school senior season in 2005, and is one of the top-5 highest rated recruits in Alabama basketball history.
During his junior season in 2007-08, Hendrix earned first team All-SEC honors and decided to forego his remaining eligibility to enter the NBA Draft. He was drafted in the second round with the 49th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors, and spent time playing professionally both in the NBA and overseas.
Hendrix now works as an analyst and a broadcaster for SEC Network, covering SEC men's basketball.
