What happens when all 14 Southeastern Conference basketball programs meet in Birmingham for media days? Only one of the biggest episodes of "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" to date.

The SEC kicks off basketball season in the first week of November, therefore we were privileged enough to be at The Grand Bohemian Hotel to talk to the who's who in basketball media.

We're grateful to have caught up with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey for a short chat. Sankey highlighted the strength of the conference and how competitive the league is expected to be.

The all-time leader in Alabama basketball coaching wins Wimp Sanderson joined us for a chat and an SEC coach crashed the conversation. Sanderson discussed the Crimson Tide and the challenges of winning in March.

We welcomed former Crimson Tide forward Richard Hendrix who described what Nate Oats added in the three new assistant coaches and former coach and ESPN Gameday analyst Seth Greenberg told us about the challenges Oats has teaching his assistant coaches his philosophy.

The program was blessed to welcome longtime sportswriter and SEC basketball specialist Kevin Scarbinsky who detailed the strength of the league. Scarbinsky lauded the state of Alabama for its roundball resurgence and discussed Crimson Tide transfer Aaron Estrada.

Additionally we welcomed several journalist friends as BamaCentral's Blake Byler and Mathey Gibson talked specifically about the Alabama Crimson Tide's upcoming season. We're lucky to have Byler and Gibson as they make up two-thirds of "Blue Collar Unplugged", the other BamaCentral Broadcasting Network Podcast that we encourage you to check out each day.

Lastly our friend Matt Stahl of Al.com joins us to talk about SEC Media Days as a whole and highlights Missouri's Dennis Gates along with discussing some of the arenas in the conference.

It's one of our biggest episodes yet as we were live in Birmingham for 2023 SEC Basketball Media Days.

Keep up with each show on Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. Shows can also be heard on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon.
