TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Junior forward Mohamed Wague, Alabama basketball's usual starting 5-man, missed the Crimson Tide's SEC opener on Tuesday night and was seen with a boot on his right foot.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats provided an update on Wague's status after the game.

"He's kind of week-to-week," Oats said. "It's his right foot that he had to have the surgery on. It kind of flared up, and we had to rest him. He's been out of practice the last couple days, didn't play tonight, we'll see if we can get him right. We've got a day off tomorrow, we'll see what we can do by Saturday."

Wague missed much of offseason preparation with an injury to the same foot, which caused him to miss much of preseason practice. He didn't become available to practice live with the team until about a week before the Crimson Tide's first game, which also left him on a light minutes restriction to start the season.

When Wague transferred to Alabama over the summer, the issue with his foot was found, leading to a procedure being done, which is what kept him out of practice for so long.

In Wague's absence, senior forward Nick Pringle started in his place and totaled four rebounds in the Crimson Tide's 74-47 win over South Carolina. His absence also allowed for more playing time for freshman forward Mouhamed Dioubate, who grabbed six rebounds in just nine minutes off the bench.

Alabama's next game is on Saturday against Mississippi State in Starkville. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be aired on SEC Network.
