Alabama basketball head coach Nate Oats has a history of sending his Crimson Tide teams to play in strong non-conference tournaments every season, and that trend will continue in 2023-24.

Alabama is one of eight teams participating in the ninth annual Emerald Coast Classic, which will be held in Niceville, Florida from Nov. 24-25.

The Crimson Tide will match up with Ohio State in the semifinal round at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, November 24, and will play either the winner or the loser of a game between Oregon and Santa Clara on Saturday, Nov. 25. The games will be held at Raider Arena on campus at Northwest Florida State College.

In addition to the games in Niceville, each team from Alabama's bracket will play an on-campus first round game on Nov. 17, with the Crimson Tide drawing Mercer. The Bears, along with Tennessee State, Southeastern Louisiana, and Western Michigan will compete in separate bracket in Niceville simultaneously with Alabama's bracket.

Under Nate Oats, Alabama has also competed in the Battle 4 Atlantis in 2019, the Maui Invitational in 2020, the ESPN Events Invitational in 2021, and the Phil Knight Invitational last season.

Alabama and Ohio State have only met on the hardwood two times, with the Crimson Tide coming away with victories in both. The last meeting between these two teams came on Nov. 29, 2002, a 54-48 victory for Alabama.

The Crimson Tide also has reported non-conference games against Creighton, Arizona, Purdue and South Alabama on the schedule for next season, with more announcements likely on the way in the coming months.
