2023 SEC Football Power Rankings: Week 11
There's only two weeks left in the college football season and then we'll celebrate championship weekend. The Southeastern Conference, like their counterparts across the country have all but decided who the strongest and who the weakest are in 2023.
Forget preseason polls. Forget what happened last season. Disregard recruiting rankings and what these teams look like on paper. The only criteria considered in this season's BamaCentral SEC Power Rankings is what happens between the white lines during games.
Winning is rewarded and losing is punished in our 2023 Power Rankings, so lets get right to it as we react to eight weeks of football throughout the conference.
1. Georgia (-) (10-0, 7-0)
- The Bulldogs smacked the Ole Miss Rebels to lock down top spot in the conference and secure a spot in the SEC Championship game for the third season in a row.
2. Alabama (-) (9-1, 7-0)
- An 11 a.m. game in Lexington can be seen as a trap, but the Tide didn't fall in, instead Alabama won 49-21 to secure it's place in Atlanta.
3. Ole Miss (-) (8-2, 5-2)
- The Rebels went to Athens but didn't have much fight for the Dawgs. Not many teams can say their only two losses on the year are at Alabama and at Georgia.
4. LSU (-) (7-3, 5-2)
- The Tigers showed what we've all known this year that their offense is still elite. Jayden Daniels helped LSU to 52 points with over 600-yards of offense.
5. Missouri (-) (8-2, 4-2)
- The Tigers showed their season is still going well by beating up on the Tennessee Volunteers 36-7. Chalk up losses to Georgia and LSU as their only blemishes and that puts Eli Drinkwitz right in the SEC Coach of the year discussion.
6. Tennessee (-) (7-3, 3-3)
- The Volunteers never got off the bus in Columbia and gave up 530 yards of offense to the Tigers, sealing their fate as second rate in the SEC East.
7. Texas A&M (-) (6-4, 4-3)
- The Aggies defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs but that's clearly not enough to move the needle in College Station as it appears Jimbo Fisher will be fired on Sunday.
8. Kentucky (-) (6-4, 3-4)
- Big Blue Nation allowed the Crimson Tide three straight touchdowns to start the game and fall into a 21-7 hole. The Wildcats could never claw back into it as they surrendered six touchdowns to Jalen Milroe
9. Auburn (↑1) (6-4, 3-4)
- Three-in-a-row for the Auburn Tigers after they win 48-10 on the road at Arkansas. Peyton Thorne's three passing touchdowns made the Auburn offense look competent.
10. Florida (↓1) (5-5, 3-4)
- Billy Napier's squad had no shot at containing Jayden Daniels and lost 52-35 in its annual game against LSU. The Gators have been lifeless away from The Swamp and that continued this weekend.
11. Mississippi State (-) (4-6, 1-6)
- The Bulldogs lost to Texas A&m by 41-points but Zach Arnett kept his job on Sunday morning? State has been one of the worst teams all year long in the SEC.
12. Arkansas (-) (3-7, 1-6)
- The Hogs made Auburn look like a real offense on Saturday. They've been an enigma, challenging some teams, but looking lifeless against others.
13. South Carolina (-) (4-6, 2-5)
- South Carolina gets a huge win over Vanderbilt this weekend, making two in a row for Shane Beamer. Can the Gamecocks keep their momentum rolling?
14. Vanderbilt (-) (2-9, 0-7)
- Vanderbilt just doesn't have enough talent to be competitive in the SEC, not even against one of the worst teams in the league in South Carolina.
