Alabama Reserve Offensive Lineman to Enter Transfer Portal
The Alabama Crimson Tide football program has begun its offseason after losing the Rose Bowl to Michigan on Monday.
Alabama reserver offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson has opted to enter the transfer portal according to On3 Sports.
Ferguson was a former 4-star prospect out of Fort Valley, Ga., he was considered the No. 2 interior lineman and the No. 6 overall player in Georgia in the 2021 class.
The 6-foot-4, 322-pound lineman appeared in 11 games over the last three seasons with Alabama, starting in just one. He's shown versatility along the Alabama line, getting snaps at both guard positions and center.
Ferguson appeared as if he were carving out a role in the 2023 offensive line but suffered an ankle injury that derailed his season.
He's the second offensive lineman to enter the transfer portal in this cycle, following center Seth McLaughlin. When factoring in Darrian Dalcourts departure due to graduation, the Crimson Tide now has one center on its roster in James Brockermeyer.
It could be a big loss for Alabama as they look to fill next year's offensive line.
"Terrence Ferguson is playing really, really well. He's gotten bigger and stronger. He's also been very explosive and had an explosive power and body quickness. And he's very confident in what he's doing," said Nick Saban in August. "We're playing him at center some too which he's done a good job of that. He's showing a lot of maturity, and I look at him as a starter on our team. I think we have six or seven guys who may be starters. So we're seeing what the best combination is as we go through camp."
The redshirt sophomore has two years of eligibility remaining.
