Alabama Still 'The Best Program' for RB Justice Haynes
PASADENA, Calif. — Alabama running back Justice Haynes did not play as much in 2023 as many fans hopes or expected.
The former 5-star freshman carried the ball just 21 times over the course of the season, amassing 137 yards and two touchdowns. But despite his limited touches, Haynes retains the belief that he is in the right place.
“God brought me here for a reason," Haynes said at Alabama's Rose Bowl media day on Saturday. "I trust in his plan, and I definitely feel ‘Bama is the best program for me. I’m just trusting in his plan. I have a great support staff around me, and it’s not just about football it’s about being a better man.”
Haynes said his freshman year is one that he has immense gratitude for, no matter how much he was able to see the field.
“This freshman year has been surreal being able to be in this opportunity, being able to be at The University of Alabama," Haynes said. "I’m very grateful to be here and I’m blessed. As a kid, I dreamed at playing at a program like Alabama and watching these people on TV. Now I’m able to say I’m playing on that TV so it’s really special and it’s truly a blessing.”
The talented running back even went on to say that he isn't worried about playing time at all, rather he's focused on doing what he can to help the team's success.
“I don’t worry about playing time and all that," Haynes said. "All I care about is coming in each and every day and controlling what I can control. That’s my attitude, how hard I work, and being the best player I can be each and every day, just helping the team in any way I can.”
There's no denying Haynes' talent and ability, and he is excited to show more of it in the future.
"I'm excited to showcase my all-around game," Haynes said. "How I can be a complete back, a three-down back that can do it all. That's something I'm excited to show, and when my opportunity gets called on, I'll be ready."
