TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Alabama Crimson Tide essentially wrapped up fall camp on Saturday afternoon — playing its second and final scrimmage.

One member of the Crimson Tide's running back room wasn't available.

True freshman running back Justice Haynes missed Saturday's scrimmage with what head coach Nick Saban called a "quad contusion."

"Justice didn't practice today," Saban said. "He's been out for a few days — a quad contusion."

Haynes, a true freshman, is expected to have a large role in Alabama's offense in 2023-24. He has showed a lot of promise in the action he's been a part of so far — including spring practice, A-Day and now fall camp. Haynes had 64 total yards and three touchdowns in the Crimson Tide's annual spring game on April 22.

“Justice has had a great spring," Saban said on April 15. "He’s a really good player. He’s a really mature guy. He’s really smart. Nothing’s really too big for him. He goes out there and competes, and if you are just a guy sitting on a log watching, you would never know he’s a freshman. So he's a very talented guy. He can make cuts. He can make you miss. He's got some power, good speed. He's a good receiver. So he’s done a really, really good job all spring."

Haynes was the No. 2 running back and the No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports Composite. He was a late flip to the Crimson Tide in the recruiting process, choosing Alabama over Georgia — where his father played college football.

"He's great at running. He's very coachable," Saban said on Aug. 7. "He's showing what he's capable of."

It didn't seem like Haynes' injury was a huge concern but it's certainly something to monitor with the regular season just two weeks out.
