TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has been named a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, the foundation announced Tuesday.

Milroe is one of 20 finalists for the award, which is given to the nation's top quarterback. Finalists will be announced on Nov. 28 with the 2023 winner of the O’Brien being named on Dec. 8 on ESPN as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards.

Mac Jones (2020) and Bryce Young (2021) are the two Crimson Tide winners of the award in program history.

Milroe has 2,070 passing yards and 16 touchdowns through the air this season. He has rushed for 333 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"I think his confidence is growing, and the confidence of the players around him has grown," head coach Nick Saban said on Saturday, after Alabama's 49-21 win over Kentucky. "And our production and performance has sort of mirrored that confidence."

"Experience is the best teacher," Milroe said Saturday. "So the more reps I get, the more opportunities I have. I think I’m seeing everything much better. But then again, I’ve got to improve and get better because I’m not a finished product. I’ve still got to learn and grow."
