In this story:

The Alabama Crimson Tide is just four days away from kicking off its season inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. 100,000 screaming fans will welcome the MTSU Blue Raiders to Tuscaloosa, but what do we really know about head coach Rick Stockstill's squad?

We welcome MTSU staff writer Sam Doughton of goblueraiders.com into the Tuesday edition of "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" to get an inside look at the Tide's Conference-USA opponent.

The Blue Raiders are no stranger to knocking off a ranked Power 5 program on the road as the program went to Coral Gables and defeated the Miami Hurricanes. Doughton details how the Blue Raiders were able to get an early lead and then hang on in the heat against a unity led by current Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Nicholas Vattiato had an arduous path to becoming Blue Raiders captain and Doughton describes what the young signal caller is made of. Can the 2021 Conference-USA All Freshman lead MTSU to a shocking victory on Saturday?

Check out the conversation to hear how the MTSU defense will complicate things for Alabama's quarterbacks on Saturday, the logistical hoops jumped through for travel to the Hawaii and Bahamas Bowl and one unique connection between the Stockstill family and the Crimson Tide.
