The Crimson Tide couldn't hold serve with the Longhorns in the fourth quarter — falling to 1-1 on the season.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — If the Alabama Crimson Tide wants to win a national championship in 2023-24, it will have to be perfect the rest of the way.

The third-ranked Crimson Tide dropped its second game of the season, losing 34-24 to No. 11 Texas on Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Jalen Milroe's flaws from last year resurfaced at a poor time for Alabama. Milroe went 14-for-27 with 255 yards and two touchdowns — but it was the two interceptions that proved fatal for the redshirt sophomore quarterback from Katy, Texas. The Longhorns picked up 10 points off of Milroe's two turnovers — the difference in the game.

After a rather slow first half, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was sensational in the second half. He finished with 349 yards and three scores — and most importantly, protected the football.

The Longhorns outgained the Crimson Tide in total yards, 454-362.

Next up for Alabama is a trip to Tampa, Fla. to take on USF. Kickoff is scheduled for next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
