Olin Buchanan and Todd McVey on The Joe Gaither Show
The Alabama Crimson Tide is inching closer to an important contest in College Station as they'll take on the Texas A&M Aggies this weekend.
The Thursday edition of "The Joe Gaither Show" features Olin Buchanan of TexAgs.com to give us a look at Jimbo Fisher's program and things to do and see in College Station.
The Aggies appear to have a brutally strong defense and an offense that, despite playing with a backup quarterback, has a myriad of ways to score points. Buchanan lets the listeners know how Max Johnson has faired and what he makes of the partnership between Fisher and new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino.
The Aggies went on the road and lost in Week 2 to the Miami Hurricanes but since then has played high level football, particularly defensively. Buchanan details what's changed under defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin since losing in South Florida.
College Station is quite a ways away from Tuscaloosa, meaning there will likely be several Alabama fans making their way to Texas A&M for the first time, despite entering the SEC in 2012. Buchanan describes the "Midnight Yell" tradition, areas of interest for food and drink and sights to see for folks planning on arriving early or staying late.
Our program shifts gears as we air a phone conversation held between Gaither and Tompkins High School football coach Todd McVey. McVey coached Jalen Milroe throughout his time in Katy and describes similarities between his development in high school and his growth at the University of Alabama.
It's going to be a hostile environment at Kyle Field and this weekend is Milroe's second SEC road start of his career. McVey details challenges that Milroe faced in high school that has prepared him for this moment.
