Report: Baylor's Christian Robinson Fills William Inge's Role as Outside Linebackers Coach
Just minutes after former Alabama linebackers coach William Inge changed paths and was hired by rival Tennessee on Monday evening, the Crimson Tide reportedly found his replacement in Baylor's Christian Robinson, per ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.
"Source: Alabama is set to hire Christian Robinson as outside linebackers coach, replacing William Inge," Rittenberg writes. "Robinson had been Baylor’s LBs coach but brings SEC experience from both Florida and Auburn. Also former graduate assistant at Georgia, Ole Miss and Mississippi State."
Earlier on Monday, new Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer and company announced they were set to hire Baylor offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic for the same position and Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Bryan Ellis as the tight ends coach. These additions completed the Tide's chaotic offseason assistant search...assuming they all sign their contracts.
However, Monday evening's subtraction of Inge altered this, but Robinson was hired just minutes later to complete the staff once again.
Robinson has both played and coached in the SEC. He was Auburn's linebackers coach in 2022 and held the same position at Florida from 2018-2021. Robinson has also worked with Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Georgia after playing in Athens, Ga. from 2009-2012.
One other notable form of assistant coaching news that occurred on Monday was that Kane Wommack signed his deal to officially become Alabama's next defensive coordinator. In addition, Wommack is also designated as the inside linebackers coach.
In other words, Alabama won't search for an assistant designated to both linebacker positions, as Wommack will take the interiors and now Robinson will develop the exteriors.
