Scarce Crimson Tide Presence on Sports Illustrated Preseason All-American Teams
Nick Saban can play the disrespect card with his Alabama Crimson Tide program for the first time in several years.
The program received its lowest preseason ranking in the Associated Press preseason poll this past week since 2009 and despite a roster loaded with talent the Tide only placed three players on the Sports Illustrated Preseason All-American Team.
The Crimson Tide saw two defenders, Dallas Turner and Kool-Aid McKinstry both named to Sports Illustrated's Preseason All-American First Team while specialist Will Reichard landed on the Second Team.
The honor just adds to preseason expectations for the trio as Turner was named to the Phil Steele Preview Second-Team, Athlon Sports Fourth-Team as well as preseason Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski Award watch-list.
Mckinstry was named to the Phil Steele Preview First-Team and Athlon Sports First-Team and earned recognition on the Badnarik, Bronko Nagurski, Jim Thorpe, Walter Camp and Lott Impact Award watch list.
Reichard is recognized o the Phil Steele Preview and Athlon Sports Fourth-Team, while also earning a place on the Lou Groza Award watch list.
The Southeastern Conference as a whole saw 13 representatives across the two Sports Illustrated Preseason teams with Georgia tying Alabama with three selections for the most in the conference. LSU, Arkansas each placed two players on the list while Mississippi State, South Carolina and Ole Miss each had one representative.
