The Alabama football team has gone through a ton of change over the past couple of weeks and it's been a lot to handle.

Legendary head coach Nick Saban retired and Washington's Kalen DeBoer became the successor just a couple of days later. What followed were many decommitments, transfers and alterations to the coaching staff.

Crimson Tide offensive lineman Tyler Booker opened up about the chaos on Monday's edition of The Next Round podcast, starting with his new head coach. He explained that DeBoer has three "non-negotiables," with one of them revolving around "family, togetherness and playing for one another."

"That's something that turned the tide for us since I've been here," Booker said. "The new era for us started when the alumni weren't too happy with us wearing green mouth pieces in (2022). That rubbed us the wrong way, so we came together and all wore green mouthpieces. That togetherness kicked off the success we had this year and it'll roll into this coming year. This past offseason, we had a lot more team events and that allowed us to really bond and develop relationships with each other."

Booker briefly spoke about some of his teammates leaving, stating that he wishes them the best and looks forward to his current teammates utilizing a next-man-up mentality," but he also illustrated how he's "really big on" family and his loyalty to Tuscaloosa, Ala.

"I'm also big on legacy and what we've accomplished so far," Booker said. "Of course, we have to go out and win a National Championship, but I wouldn't trade what I've done so far for the world."

Booker has preached a "seven points away" mindset toward his teammates since DeBoer was hired, meaning they are only going to get better under the new system.

"We're a young team and we're still going to continue to develop in this offense we're going to inherit because DeBoer's very different from the typical SEC. I'm excited to go out and take the field with him and do some things out there. It's really encouraging to know that we all have the same mindset. When you have that togetherness, it's really hard for people to knock you off."
