USF Preview with Matt Manuri and Josh Katz on The Joe Gaither Show

Let's go behind enemy lines with a South Florida preview on The Joe Gaither Show | Episode 83: Sept. 15, 2023
In this story:

The Alabama Crimson Tide plays its second true road non-conference game in two seasons this weekend with a trip to Tampa to take on the South Florida Bulls.

The two teams haven't met since the Tide rolled 40-17 in 2003 at Legion Field in Birmingham, so let's get to know this week's opponent on "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral".

We're thankful for Matt Manuri and Josh Katz from SoFloBulls.com for joining us on this episode as they explain how first year head coach Alex Golesh has begun to change the culture and expectation around the Bulls program.

Golesh hit the transfer portal hard in the summer, bringing in 25 players from the portal and completely revamping the USF roster. Manuri and Katz highlight some of the star players to watch on both offense and defense for the Bulls and describe how quarterback Byrum Brown will fearlessly attack the Crimson Tide defense.

We hear what the expectations are for a program that's underachieved in recent memory and how excited the Bulls are to be a part of a two-for-one contract with the Crimson Tide as USF will make two trips to Tuscaloosa in the coming years.

This weekend will be the Tide's first time back in Raymond James Stadium since losing the 2017 national championship game on Deshaun Watson and Clemson's pick-play. Our guests describe the NFL stadium and features to look for as the Alabama fan-base descends on Tampa.

Additionally, for fans looking for activities outside of the football game our two USF alums highlight a handful of places to get good food and quality drinks across Tampa.
