LOS ANGELES — Alabama senior guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr.'s status for the Elite Eight is still uncertain.

"Wrightsell continues to be evaluated by the doctor and the trainer, he's day to day," Alabama head coach Nate Oats said on Friday.

Wrightsell has been in and out of the starting lineup for Alabama this season. The Cal State Fullerton transfer is averaging nine points and three rebounds per game.

In Alabama's opening game of the NCAA Tournament against Charleston, Wrightsell was second on the team in scoring with 17 points. He left the Round of 32 game against Grand Canyon with a head injury, only playing 11 minutes. Wrightsell did not dress out or play in the Sweet 16 matchup against North Carolina.

Wrightsell first missed time in late February with the head injury. He did not play in a four-game stretch from Feb. 21 against Florida to March 2 against Tennessee. The senior guard returned and played limited minutes for the Crimson Tide's game at Florida on March 5.

"He said he wants to play, but he also wants us to win," Alabama forward Grant Nelson said. "He's handling his business with the doctors day to day. He's just watching right now, but he's been a great coach on the sidelines."

Alabama takes on Clemson in the Elite Eight on Friday at 7:49 on tbs.
