With recruiting season starting to heat up for the Class of 2024, Nate Oats and Alabama basketball have been working hard on the recruiting trail along with its two newly-hired assistant coaches.

On Monday afternoon, Alabama was listed as one of six finalists for 5-star guard Tre Johnson, alongside SEC foes Arkansas and Kentucky, as well as Big 12 powers Kansas, Texas and Baylor.

Johnson is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Dallas, Texas entering his senior year of high school. According to all four major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals, On3, ESPN), Johnson ranks as the No. 1 overall player in the 2024 class.

Johnson has already visited four members of his final list, visiting Baylor and Texas last fall, Kentucky in the winter, and Kansas just under two weeks ago.

Alabama has yet to land any commitments in the 2024 class, but has been involved with multiple top prospects in the class.

Five-star forward Jarin Stevenson visited Tuscaloosa last week, 4-star forward Aiden Sherrell took a visit in the fall, and Oats has gone himself and visited other prospects such as 5-star guard Boogie Fland.

While Alabama continues to work on the 2024 class, it still had two roster spots to fill for this upcoming season. The program is also still waiting on the decisions of Charles Bediako, Mark Sears and Jahvon Quinerly, who declared for the NBA Draft but maintained their college eligibility.

Bediako and Sears participated in the G League Elite Camp this past week, but did not earn and invitation to the NBA Draft Combine.
