It's hard to believe, but Monday marks the first spring practice of the Kalen DeBoer-era as the Crimson Tide will be led by a new head man in spring ball for the first time in 17 years.

While spring practice opens up next week, it also marks a transition in the college football recruiting calendar. Sunday, March 3 is the end of an NCAA mandated dead period with Monday kicking off more than a month long's quiet period.

What's a quiet period? Coaches can only make in-person contact with a recruit on the member institution's campus. DeBoer and his staff have until April 15 to host as many of the top recruits in Tuscaloosa as they can, making this a crazy month, balancing spring practice and recruiting for the future.

Checking Out The Capstone

There's a number of prospects checking out the University of Alabama this week as the NCAA quiet period begins on Monday. The projects will be able to get a sense of the new coaching staff and see how practices are run in Tuscaloosa.

  • Marcus Garcia - A 4-star offensive tackle from Denton, Texas in the Class of 2025. Garcia is listed at 6-foot-5, 265 pounds and the 247Sports Composite considers him the No. 29 tackle in the state of Texas. The offensive lineman has offers from Michigan, Florida State, Texas A&M and others already.

Wednesday, March 6

  • Caleb Cunningham - A 5-star wide receiver out of Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Miss. He's listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds and the 247Sports Composite considers him the No. 2 overall receiver in the Class of 2025. He's also listed as the top player in the state of Mississippi and the No. 10 player in the class.  He's a 20 point per game scorer in high school basketball and a state qualifier in track and field. In three season so far of high school football he's hauled in 114 receptions for 2,150 yards and 30 touchdowns.
  • Darrell "Duke" Johnson- A 4-star linebacker out of Dodge County High School in Eastman, Ga. He's listed at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds and the 247SportsComposite lists him as the No. 3 linebacker, the No. 7 player in Georgia and the No. 28 overall player in the Class of 2025. He has scholarship offers to Florida State, Southern Cal and Tennessee as well as the Crimson Tide.
  • Bralan Womack - A 4-star safety out of Hatfield Academy in Flowood, Miss. He's listed at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds but he's part of the Class of 2026, making him a rising junior and giving him more time to grow. Womack is considered the No. 4 safety, No. 3 player in Mississippi and the No. 41 overall player in the Class of 2026 by the 247Sports Composite.
  • Helaman Casuga - A 4-star quarterback out of Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. He's listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds as a rising junior. Casuga is considered the No. 5 quarterback in the class, the No. 2 overall player in Utah and the No. 68 overall player by 247Sports. He hasn't been rated by enough services to have a composite score just yet.

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program is hosting its second "Junior Day" event next weekend. Come back next week to BamaCentral to find out all the visitors that are coming to Tuscaloosa.
