5-Star Offensive Tackle Announces Commitment to Alabama
The Alabama football Class of 2025 just got a whole lot bigger as 5-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood has announced his intentions to commit to the Crimson Tide, according to On3 Sports.
Haywood, listed at 6-foot-5, 285-pounds is out of Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. He's considered the No. 2 tackle, the No. 4 player in the state of Texas and the No. 11 overall prospect in the Class of 2025 by the 247Sports Composite.
The mammoth tackle joins an already large offensive line class that includes Michael Carroll, Mal Waldrep, Jackson Lloyd, and Micah DeBose. Haywood chose Alabama over Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M and others.
He becomes Alabama's 23rd total commitment in the Class of 2025 and solidifies the Crimson Tide's No. 2 class in the current cycle. Alabama still has a gap to close on Ohio State for the top class but is firmly in the pole position in the SEC with more room to add.
Haywood officially visited Tuscaloosa over the final weekend in May and was accompanied the whole weekend by Alabama offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic who served as his lead recruiter.
The rising senior helped the Ryan Raiders finish 8-3 in Texas 6A football while also standing out as a shot putter and discus thrower in track and field. He reportedly set a new personal record in March with a shot put throw of 58' 6".
