Alabama Lands 5-Star Forward from 2027 Class

In this story:
Alabama basketball has landed a commitment from forward Zion Green, per multiple reports.
The 5-star prospect and AZ Compass Prep standout is ranked as the No. 16 overall recruit on ESPN's SCNext 100, and is the No. 2 power forward. Green, who stands at 6-foot-9, 185 pounds, visited Tuscaloosa on Sept. 11.
Green is the second member of the Crimson Tide's 2027 class, joining 4-star Chase Lumpkin, who committed to Alabama on Sept. 9. Lumpkin, a 6-foot-4, 190-pounder from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, is a consensus top-30 prospect. He is ranked as the No. 26 player in the class of 2027, the No. 6 combo guard and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Georgia.
Other schools that heavily pursued Green included Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Kansas. Green told ESPN, "They've (Alabama) stuck with me throughout this entire process, even when I wasn't what I am now."
Green drew attention on the Puma Pro16 Circuit, before reaching a new level in the Border League, where he shot 73% inside the arc and 40% from 3. He will inevitably put on some weight before he takes the court for the Crimson Tide, but his lanky frame could prove beneficial for a program that has struggled to find effective rebounders capable of running the court at Oats' preferred pace.
It's nearly impossible to forecast what Alabama's 2027-28 roster will look like, but Green appears primed to slide right in to a significant role as a freshman. Alabama currently has six players who are 6-foot-9 or taller: Keitenn Bristow, Jamarion Davis-Fleming, Brandon Garrison, Drew Fielder, TJ St. Louis, and Collins Onyejiaka. All six have at least one more year of eligibility and could hypothetically return.
