Arkansas Rides Nine-Game Win Streak to Top Spot
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas is better than every other Division I baseball team.
That's at least according to the latest rankings released by D1 Baseball. After the previous No. 1 team Wake Forest dropped two games last week to No .6 Duke, the Razorbacks, 13-2 and winners of their last nine games, assumed the top spot after a 4-0 week with a sweep over McNeese State and a midweek win over Central Arkansas.
The USA Today Coaches Poll, Perfect Game and Baseball America also have the Razorbacks at the top spot. The NCBWA has yet to release an updated rankings.
The Razorbacks are also tops in the nation in the Rating Percentage Index (RPI), created by the NCAA to try and measure teams based on their strength of schedule, boosted by their win over No. 3 (D1 Baseball) Oregon State.
With just one game left before the start of SEC play, the Razorbacks will play a full slate of ranked teams as conference play gets underway. Arkansas welcomes No. 2 LSU, No. 8 Florida and No. 24 Texas Tech to Baum-Walker. They also take on No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 14 Alabama, No. 18 Auburn and No. 20 South Carolina on the road.
The final non-conference game before the official start of the SEC slate is no slouch either. The Razorbacks welcome 2023 College World Series participant Oral Roberts to Fayetteville. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on SEC Network+.
