What Razorbacks' Coach Sam Pittman Revealed About Rocket

One running back that could at least give fans some worry, may have update Wednesday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas coach Sam Pittman dropped an interesting nugget in the SEC Coaches' Teleconference on Wednesday morning and there was an update on running back Raheim "Rocket" Sanders' situation.

He's had a wrap on his left knee in practice this week. We don't get many injury updates during the week. Pittman is kinda paranoid about those things because often fans and the media blow them out of proportion. Pittman didn't know about it until after Saturday's opening win over Western Carolina on Saturday. In that game, Rocket had 42 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns.

Pittman wasn't even aware of any problem until Sunday afternoon. There was no update of any kind given in the teleconference about Sanders' possible status for this week's game against Kent State.

"He’s got a little bit of swelling on his knee, so we’re waiting to see exactly what that is," Pittman said. "He’s getting looked at. He got looked at yesterday, and he’s getting looked at today. We’re not positive where that will go at this point. I think I’ll know a little bit more, maybe before our 2 o’clock meeting this afternoon. We’re still waiting to find out exactly where he’ll be for this week or even the next week."

As usual, there was internet chatter about Rashod Dubinion's status all week long. There are folks that see it, tell a friend about something they saw at practice and we're off and running with all the wild speculation about injuries. Most of it is usually off base, so listen at your own risk.

"R-Dub has been healthy all week," Pittman said. "R-Dub is healthy and ready to go." The next time we'll find out any information from him is Wednesday afternoon with his final media briefing of the week before doing his radio show at the Catfish Hole on Wednesday night.

The Razorbacks have their home opener in Razorback Stadium against Kent State at 3 p.m. on the SEC Network and fuboTV.
