McAdoo Shares Positive Update on His Health
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – It's a question that comes up nearly every day.
"What's the status of Quincey McAdoo?"
Full disclosure is no one knows anything official, but there are strong positive signs, including one that came down from McAdoo last night when he dropped a photo of what appears to be him working out in the weight room at Smackover High School.
The All-Freshman SEC defensive back looks pretty good, especially considering how much damage his wreck reportedly did to his body. Reaching a point of being able to lift weights, even the lightest of loads, is a big milestone.
Whether these positive steps lead to him putting himself through the physical punishment of an SEC season next year remains to be seen. That's between McAdoo, his family, coaches and doctors. There are things we are told at times, but when it comes to an injury like this, until the player or coaches reveal it, those of us who know bits and pieces tend to keep things to ourselves out of respect for the player and family.
Here's what is for certain that is safe to reveal following McAdoo's post. Word started trickling out a month or so ago that the body was healing and the desire to put in work building his body back up was there. Now there's evidence that is happening.
He also referenced a verse in one of his posts a couple of weeks before Christmas. It was Romans 8:18 which reads "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later."
Again, none of this should be taken to mean McAdoo will be back on the field next fall. It means exactly what it means. A young man who went through a terrible accident is finally able to be in a gym and his body has reached a point where he is comfortable sharing a photo.
That in itself is a big deal, and if that's as far as it goes, considering the circumstances it's a huge blessing. When it's time to decide for certain what McAdoo's status is for next season, he will let everyone know when he's ready.
Until then, be patient. And regardless of what the news turns out to be, see it for the positive it is that things have gotten this far.
