FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It's not just groceries and living expenses that have succumbed to inflation, but Arkansas football as well. Now, it is a little facetious, teams don't adjust their budgets based on the amount of wins get in the previous seasons, but how much do the Razorbacks say they spend and how does that compare to the rest of the SEC?

Note: The numbers were compiled using the most recent EADA report (Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act) for FY23. The federal law passed in 1994 requires any college "that participates in a federal student aid program must prepare an EADA Report by October 15."

Granted, there are wildly varying figures in the ominously labeled category of expenses that aren't attributed to any sport. One could guess that the overwhelming majority of that goes to football and NIL. The general point is, other than the cream of the crop SEC Championship caliber teams, there seems to be little to suggest that Arkansas isn't comparable to other SEC schools in terms of raw dollars spent.

Using the 2023 EADA report, no team in the SEC spent more money than the Razorbacks per football win other than the lowly Vanderbilt Commodores and the only two teams with over $10 million per win.

The resources are there. Will the Hogs be able to translate that into more wins in 2024? Assuming this is all there really is because a lack of transparency or published and verified information creates a lot of clouds.
