Fayetteville Restaurant Smoked Up Strong Razorback Flavor
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It was a quiet weekend in Razorback Stadium even though the Hogs were playing their true home opener. Still, not every program on campus experienced a low key time though.
One particular program was hard at work securing future talent, setting the stage for the patrons of Herman’s Ribhouse to possibly play a key role into one particular recruit committing to the Hogs.
Not a single coach in all of college basketball can say he out-recruits Eric Musselman whether it be in the high school ranks or out of the transfer portal. For any coach, it’s a way of life. Recruiting is a 24-7 kind of deal and Musselman is one of the best at closing deals.
A big part of his success has to do with how Arkansas fans show out for visiting recruits. Not a single time have these players been brought in for a visit where they haven’t been treated like rock stars.
Top 50 prospect Jalen Shelley, who committed to the Hogs on Monday, experienced the atmosphere which Razorback fans created inside Herman’s Ribhouse. While Shelley dined with Musselman, Hog fans took notice and made sure their newest commit felt right at home, according to a Hog fan on Twitter.
“Y’all wanna know what Fayetteville is like?" patron Brandon Howard wrote. "Saturday on Shelley’s visit the staff took him to local great Herman’s Ribhouse. They sat there eating food in a packed restaurant for about 20 minutes then all of the sudden the entire restaurant (I'm talking every table) starts chanting the Arkansas fight song, only to follow it up by calling the hogs. THE ENTIRE PLACE."
And while that may have made an impression, what followed as described by Howard had all the elements of a flash mob.
"The most epic part was after it was done everyone just casually went back to dining like nothing happened. In Fayetteville EVERYONE knows you, EVERYONE is aware. But there’s such a respect for the Hogs they almost on beat know when to pull the love out and not.”
Hog fans may be dubbed as a delusional group. However, they know their team, who is on the recruiting radar and are on top of creating an engaging environment wherever they may be. With another huge weekend on deck where they will host top 25 prospect Isaiah Elohim, the knowledgeable group of fans will make sure his visit goes unforgettable.
