FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas has fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos following their 7-3 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday, according to press release from Arkansas Communications and coach Sam Pittman.

The Razorbacks dropped to 2-6 overall and remain winless in five conference games. With the offense struggling mightily against a Bulldogs' defense that allowed over 395 yards of total offense per game coming into the week eight matchup.

Enos was hired in December of 2022, following the departure of Kendal Briles, who's offense in 2022 was on a school record pace. The Hogs' offense was full of issues from the start of 2023. Sacks, pre-snap penalties, lack of a competent running game and innovation severely hindered any sort continuity from last year.

The Razorback offense has only generated 2,447 yards of offense and 26 points per game. When dissecting the offense's performance in SEC it is increasingly embarrassing as they've scored only 19.6 points per game, 177 yards passing, 84 yards rushing, zero rushing touchdowns, nine first downs and have given up a conference worst 24 sacks.

The explosibility factor for the Hogs offense was severely lacking this season. The offense has only produced 27 plays of more than 20 yards this season. That number includes the Mississippi State game as the Razorbacks had two plays gain 19 yards. However, not a single play exceeded 20 yards on Saturday.

The offensive collapse comes on the heels of one of the most explosive offenses in school history. The 2022 offense under Briles' was very potent with 73 plays of more than 20 yards. The Razorbacks were yard monsters a season ago eating up 471 yards per game which was 15th in college football. The run game has been the Razorbacks' calling card for the past two seasons averaging over 230 yards per game.

When Enos was hired, he signed a three year deal worth $1.1 million, which was $400,00 per year more than his salary at Maryland. If the former offensive coordinator stayed on at Arkansas the duration of his contract he would have received a $70,000 salary increase for 2024 and 2025.
