How Everyone Reacted to Hogs' Win Over LSU
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks were able to put together one of its best performances of the season together against LSU Wednesday night. Scoring nearly at will over the past four games, the Hogs have scored no less than 85 points each night.
Headlined by another Khalif Battle scoring barrage, the Razorbacks defeated LSU 94-83. Battle led Arkansas in scoring for the fourth straight game with 29 against the Tigers. He continues to efficiently score by draining 50% of his shots and capitalizing on each opportunity at the free throw line. The Edison, NJ, native is 58-63 (92%) from the line since the Missouri game which is vintage Battle style.
Battle did not participate senior night activities. Due to Covid, his eligibility from the 2020-21 season did not count so it is possible to see him back next year.
A block party was held inside Bud Walton Arena Wednesday with the Razorbacks swiping ten of LSU shots at the rim. Battle asserted himself as a dominant defender against the Tigers with a season-high three blocks. Senior Makhi Mitchell continued his strong stretch of basketball as he added three blocks.
Tramon Mark finished with two blocks while El Ellis and Jeremiah Davenport contributed with one. LSU had success with shots near the rim, outscoring Arkansas 48-46. However, they did not block a single Razorback shot on the night which made history for Arkansas.
Posterization, baby! Chandler Lawson's length overwhelmed LSU early in the second half with a steal that led to a dunk and then scored an and-1 on the next possession. It wasn't always pretty but Arkansas was quite disruptive and looked good doing so.
With a road trip to Alabama looming, the Razorbacks have a chance to secure a signature regular season victory. The Crimson Tide are now out of the running for a regular season SEC title after two straight losses. Conference tournament seeding will be on the line as they are currently tied for the two seed. If Arkansas can play the role of spoiler and win Saturday, the Tide could drop to a single bye in Nashville.
