Derrian Ford's Family Drops Indication Guard Will Return for Hogs

Former Magnolia Panther putting in work to get ready for next season

In this story:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Well, it's not officially official, but if a post by Marc Ford, uncle to Arkansas freshman Derrian Ford, is to be taken at face value, the guard will be back in a Razorback uniform next season,

There appears to be plenty of reason to take this as an announcement of Ford's return, which until recent years wouldn't have been needed. Ford retweeted a thread put out by his uncle showing him in the workout facility jumping boxes and in the gym shooting.

Ford only averaged just under four minutes per game and appeared in 21 of the 36 games the Hogs played this season. However, his performance against a UConn team that the Razorbacks struggled with all night in the Sweet 16 showed a glimpse of what Ford could bring to the table if given a chance.

With the former Magnolia Panther seemingly staying in Fayetteville, the Razorbacks have two players in the fold with the announcement by Trevon Brazile that he will be back next season. Statements made by Jordan Walsh indicate he may be back also, but with no formal announcement, that would only be speculation.

Davonte Davis also announced he will return for his senior season provided his NBA Draft analysis doesn't indicate he's a lock to be taken at a solid position in this year's draft.

What isn't speculation is the large amount of players Eric Musselman has been courting in the transfer portal, which would indicate he knows someone intends to transfer or that there will be an NBA draft announcement in the coming days. Right now, if no one leaves, the additions of signees Baye Fall and Layden Blocker would leave Arkansas with no scholarships to use on transfers.
