FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – UMass big man Josh Cohen is set to visit the Arkansas Razorbacks first this week along with Notre Dame and Xavier, per Joe Tipton of On3sports.

The Minutemen’s center averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists this season as a fifth-year senior. Cohen has played at the Division One level, beginning his career with St. Francis of the Northeastern Conference from 2019-2023. He transferred to UMass this season but saw his production fall off a little bit with a move up in competition to the Atlantic 10.

As a junior with St. Francis, Cohen scored a career-high 22 points per game, 58% from the field and eight rebounds. He enters the portal with a 4-star transfer ranking and a 91 overall grade. The 6-foot-10, 220 pound center is the No. 123 ranked transfer and No. 22 player at his position, per On3’s transfer ranking.  Cohen finished the season with All-A10 honors.

Eric Musselman will be tasked to find up to 10 new additions via the transfer portal. Guards Joseph Pinion, Keyon Menifield, Davonte Davis and Layden Blocker have already departed. That leaves a heavy guard focus but the Hogs need a few post players making Cohen’s visit one to watch.

Senior post players like Makhi Mitchell, Chandler Lawson and Jalen Graham have seen their eligibility expire. Add senior guards El Ellis and Jeremiah Davenport to the list and that’s how Arkansas has made it to the spot its in.

Another portal prospect which Arkansas has reached out to is UT-Martin guard Jordan Sears. The 5-11 junior exploded for the Catamounts this season with 22 points per game to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Sears was go-to guy last season making 43% of his shots from the floor and beyond the arc. He is a near automatic free throw shooter making 84% of attempts as a senior.

Michigan big man Tarris Reed has also heard from Arkansas. The 6-foot10 sophomore averaged nine points and seven rebounds per game. As a recruit, Reed was a consensus top-40 prospect out of high school and top-10 center. He currently ranks the No. 125 player in the portal and No. 23 center.

Talented Rutgers big Clifford Omoruyi has heard from Arkansas long with several others like UConn, St. John’s, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UCLA and Depaul. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and nearly three blocks per game this season. Omoruyi has started 104 of 121 games in his career with the Scarlet Knights.

Former Stanford freshman guard Kanaan Carlyle is also on Arkansas’ radar. The 6-foot-3 Atlanta native entered the portal after his coach Jerod Haase. He averaged 12 points, three rebounds and three assists this season in Palo Alto. Carlyle ranks as the No. 56 player in the transfer portal and currently sits No. 5 as a combo guard.
