Hogs Receive News On Senior Guard
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior guard Davonte "Devo" Davis has returned to the Razorback basketball team following a leave of absence, per Eric Musselman during his weekly radio show.
Musselman and Davis have been known to have a father-son relationship in the past despite taking time off from the program twice in two seasons. The bond was displayed following Davis’ iconic 25 points, eight rebound performance in the round of 32 against No. 1 seed Kansas last season.
Davis' Return to Hogs Not Hero's Welcome It Was Last Season
Davis has seen a noticeable drop in production for the senior who was expected to be the leader upon which Musselman constructed this year's team. The Jacksonville native is averaging a career-low 6.3 points per game with a dip in rebounds to a shade above four. His field goal percentage has plummeted to a career-low 35% while only knocking down 23% of his three-point attempts.
This follows a junior season when Davis posted career numbers across the board with 11 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 35% from three point range
Leading up to his surprising time off, Davis only played seven minutes in a blowout loss to Ole Miss, going out in the first half and not returning. He was one of only three players to not play double-digit minutes. He has been more known for his technical fouls against Auburn's Chad Baker-Mazara out of nowhere and getting thrown out for kicking a Texas A&M player between the legs.
The Razorbacks currently sit at 11-11 overall record, (2-7 SEC). Arkansas won't play again until Saturday when it hosts Georgia at Bud Walton Arena. The timing of Davis' return gives him an opportunity to get back in the flow of things.
