South Carolina Forward was so Frustrated by Devo's Defense, He Vented Live After Game

Five-star signee took to Instagram almost immediately after loss, also hinted at whether there will be a possible rematch with Davis next season
In this story:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – While a handful of Arkansas fans are frustrated at how close the win Saturday over South Carolina was instead of appreciating the first road win of the season, none left that game as frustrated as the Gamecocks 5-star guard GG Jackson.

After having to wear the Razorbacks' Davonte Davis as a trench coat on the offensive end all game, Jackson came away with only nine points, nearly half his 16+ average per game, and a volcano's worth of bubbling frustration.

That volcano erupted after the game as Jackson took to Instagram Live to voice his displeasure with how things unfolded while fans from North Carolina, Mississippi State and Kentucky tried to convince him to leave the Gamecocks' program.

The 6'9" freshman forward was especially frustrated about not getting the ball late in the game as Arkansas struggled to maintain the lead.

"Can you help me answer that question Chris Bro?" Jackson asked one of his followers who was commenting in real time. "Why don't I have the ball in my hands when it's crunch time bro? Ain't I supposed to be this "Oh, My God GG." I don't see myself as that, but ain't I supposed to be quote, unquote that? Just give me that [expletive]."

The answer to that is simple. Jackson had the unfortunate distinction of drawing Davis, one of the best and most experienced defenders in all of college basketball.

If something more concrete was needed, Jackson put up two points on 1-of-3 shooting in the second half while Meechie Johnson was 6-of-8 for 17 points, including 5-of-6 from three. He also has more experience, so if a play in crunch time was going to be drawn up, the logical choice was Johnson.

Despite the frustration, Jackson said he is leaning toward getting a rematch against Davis sometime in the future. He is currently projected as borderline lottery pick.

"I'm not even getting plays drawn up for me in crunch time bro," Jackson said. "Xavier, I can't even do that [transfer to Mississippi St]. I don't know what I"m going to do next year. I'm thinking about staying bro. Man, I can't even transfer if I stay next year. I done already betrayed one school. I can't do it to another one bro."

Because of the cursing by both Jackson and his audience, plus occasional racial language written by his followers that can't be easily blurred out, we have chosen not to post the video. However, those who are interested can find it on Twitter fairly easily by searching for The Spurs Up Show.
