Razorbacks Use Huge Third Quarter to Top No. 15 Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Arkansas picked up a signature win over the No. 15 Florida State Seminoles on the road, 71-58 in the inaugural SEC-ACC Challenge. The Razorbacks used a buzzer-beater triple to end the first half from Saylor Poffenbarger to take a 28-26 lead. The Hogs used that momentum to catch fire in the third quarter. Coach Mike Neighbors' team outscored the Seminoles 24-6 in the third quarter.
"Our defense led to offense," Neighbors said. "I thought we were very poised tonight Our best performance of the year, inspired by all the good things happening in Fayetteville."
Poffenbarger's rebounding and shooting prowess to completely take over the game, both she and Taliah Scott pitched in with two triples each in the quarter. The two combined for 47 points to key the Razorbacks. Samara Spencer also pitched in with 15. After a 21-rebound performance in the season opener against Louisiana-Monroe, Poffenbarger pitched in a 23-rebound performance, breaking a school record. The performance included four offensive boards.
"That is video-game numbers," Neighbors said. "19 defensive, that jumps off the chart at you. Her effort was great. She can play a lot of minutes. She's got a great approach to it. She understands that's her role."
The Hogs paired lights-out shooting with stingy defense. The Seminoles came into the night with a season-low of 79 points and only managed two field goals in the third quarter. The Razorbacks also had a season-high eight blocks.

Despite catching fire in the second half, both teams struggled early. Neither team shot over 25% in the first half as both teams played at a frantic pace, which led to sloppy play. The two teams combined for only 10 assists while committing 18 turnovers. Scott, who came into the game ninth-best in the country in points per game, did not make a field goal in the first quarter. Despite missing early and often, Arkansas never stopped shooting and eventually turned the tide.
Florida State attempted to make a comeback in the fourth with a 14-3 run cut the lead to 12, but the Seminoles were left with too much to do. Spencer's triple at 60-48, stretched the lead back to 15 and kept Florida State at bay for the rest of the night.
Arkansas returns home to play 2 p.m. No. 2 UCLA Dec. 3. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
