2024 ATH Martavious Collins commits to the Auburn Tigers

The former Alabama commit comes back to the Plains for A-Day and commits to the Tigers just a week later.

Auburn football has landed Martavious Collins.

The Rome, Georgia native has decided to stay with an Alabama school, but instead of his former commitment with the Crimson Tide, he will commit to the Auburn Tigers.

Collins, a four-star ATH who primarily plays TE, was committed to Alabama for over six months but in early February decided to decommit. This decision was three weeks removed from his visit to Auburn on January 14th. The Tigers put Collins in their sights and that seems to have paid off as following his visit to the A-Day game, on April 8th, he announced a commitment to Auburn University almost a week later on April 14th.

Martavious has been very solid in his high school career and has shown that his four-star rating is not just a fluke and it is well deserved. He has totaled 597 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The most important part of his game will not show up on a stat sheet as he is one of the better blocking tight ends in the 2024 class.

The tight end room might seem stacked and almost overflowing in its current state, but following this season the room will need depth and talent. Transfer Rivaldo Fairweather is poised to have a breakout season and there is potential he could be in next year's NFL Draft. Back-ups Tyler Fromm, Brendan Frazier, and Luke Deal are all seniors this year and unless they use their extra year of eligibility will be leaving the plains for other endeavors come Fall 2024. Collins, assuming he stays firm in his commitment, would join Micah Riley-Ducker, Grant Hidalgo, and Cameron Etheridge as the only TEs on the roster.

The addition of Collins puts Auburn in seventh place in SEC recruiting rankings according to 247Sports, and 21st nationally.
