5-Star Wide Receiver Chooses Alabama Over Auburn Tigers

Auburn has missed on a big time wide receiver prospect.

The Auburn Tigers have whiffed on another massive wide receiver prospect.

The Tigers were in pursuit of one of the best wideouts in the 2024 class, looking to add him to their already star-studded core of receivers already committed. However, 5-star Ryan Williams decided that he will recommit to the Alabama Crimson Tide after decommitting last year.

“Alabama is and always has been where my heart was since I first began being recruited by them," Williams told On3. "I love the TIDE and the TIDE loves me. With the addition of Coach Debroar’s offense and the relationship I built with him and the rest of the staff and such a short amount of time, I am 1000% Confident and Committed…. ROLL TIDEEE 🐘”

Hugh Freeze and the Tigers tried their hardest to flip Williams away from the Crimson Tide, who has been committed to Alabama since October of 2022. They've already flipped fellow five-star receiver Perry Thompson away from the Tide.

Williams caught 88 passes for 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on 57 rushes (12.3 yards per carry), returned two punts for touchdowns and passed for a score while leading his high school to a state title.

247Sports describes Williams as a dynamic playmaker who has "nuclear explosion out of cuts" and "projects as a high-major impact player with high-round NFL Draft upside."

The NFL comparison given from national scouting analyst is former Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley.

The Tigers still have two 5-star receivers committed in their 2024 class.
