Parkview High School's Jalyn Crawford Signs With Auburn Tigers

Auburn lands top cornerback from talent-rich Parkview
In this story:

The Auburn Tigers are signing an experienced junior college defensive back who originally played his prep football inside the Yellow Hammer State.

Jalyn Crawford

Size: 6-feet, 190 pounds

Position: Cornerback

Schools: Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview

Recruitment: Several SEC programs like LSU, Florida, Missouri, Tennesse, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss came after Crawford before he decided to sign with the Tigers. Other offers include but are not limited to Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Miami.

He's the #212 player in the country per the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings, plus the 19th-rated cornerback and No. 27 player in Georgia.

Strengths: Propensity to play the run with physicality just as much as Crawford will go after an interception on a deep ball. After beginning his backpedal, he shows the suddenness to drive on the football and make plays during comeback routes, slants, and other routes.

As an important part of Crawford's maturation, he's coming from a Parview program that's in the middle of Gwinnett County just outside of Atlanta. He's accustomed to going against top-notch recruits. That's going to help him adapt to the SEC level.

Area to Improve: Adding weight and strength is pivotal to being a big-time Auburn football player. Crawford can absolutely make plays, but he's going to be an even better version of his current self after adding 10 to 15 pounds to his frame.

From the 2024 Auburn Tigers Commitment List and Evaluations page, here's part of Robinson's evaluation:

He's twitchy enough to play free safety. Robinson's penchant for physical contact likely dictates that he plays in the box for the Tigers, however. Blitzing, helping in run support, and playing downhill overall would be areas he's best suited to do. Do not be shocked if Robinson plays some nickel either. He has the cover skills to do so. He's an excellent pickup for the Tigers at a position where Auburn definitely needs veterans to join the 2024 roster.

Auburn is gaining a top recruit from the Peach State which is always nice. It's great that he's playing a crucial position like cornerback, too.
