KJ Lacey And Mobile Prep Football Talent

The greater Mobile area is loaded with talent

Numerous top prospects are continuing to come out of the greater Mobile area. After going to see Cole McConathy (Miami signee) and several underclassmen this weekend, that trend is going to continue.

Here's the first of several installments about top underclassmen across the Yellow Hammer State, with Mobile being a prime focus.

First up, Saraland High School is loaded. I once again spoke with 2025 quarterback KJ Lacey about his recruitment. Lacey made it clear that Texas, Alabama, and Auburn are all recruiting him as hard as ever.

We even joked about his college process being about his dynamic as any in the country, regardless of class. There's probably quite a ways to go before the current Texas commitment completely shuts down his recruitment. Lacey is heading to UT soon after a seven-on-seven tournament in the Lone Star State.

For Lacey, nothing else to report as far as visit dates. He's not the only Saraland prospect to discuss from the underclassmen ranks either.

There's also the article about big-time defensive line recruit Antonio Coleman that is up at Auburn Daily. The Tigers made a huge splash by flipping Coleman from Bama:

Here are some of the other prospects that were seen during this particular trip, and in no particular order. And yes, there are even more Sarland prospects than who's listed below, too.

Jamichael Garrett, LB/ATH, Gulf Shores - 2026

Speed and versatility highlight this young man's game. He already has three SEC offers that include Ole Miss, Auburn, and most recently Tennessee.  Garrett's role will likely expand at Gulf Shores and he's also a really good student. Look for him to earn several more offers this spring and beyond.

AJ Martin, Wide Receiver, Saraland - 2026

It's amazing how many playmakers Lacey has to throw the football to. Martin is another twitchy player who could play in the slot in college, as well as be a return man. With Ryan Williams moving to the class of 2024, Martin has a chance to have a huge 2024 prep season at Saraland.

Ti Mims, Cornerback/ATH, Baldwin County - 2025

Mims is just starting to hit the radar. Love his film and he possesses the attitude needed to play cornerback. Confident young man the frame to player in the Power 4.

Price Stephens, LB/ATH, Gulf Shores - 2026

"Wherever I can fit in at," that's what Stephens said about his future college position. He's been a do-it-all player for the Dolphins and it's going to be interesting to see where his next two seasons take him.

Miles Uter, Flex Tight End, Bayside - 2025

Uter has long arms and a frame to weigh 240 or more. He is currently at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds.

Sye Byrd, ATH, Citronelle - 2027

Byrd has the frame to fill out to well over 200 pounds in college. With three seasons of prep ball left, it's a question of which position will he end up playing. Running back, receiver, safety, and linebacker could all be his best position. Great frame.

Kolin Wilson, RB/Slot, Gulf Shores - 2025

Wilson is a tremendous one-on-one player that makes defenders miss and breaks tackles. After a season with over 2,000 yards and helping Gulf Shores win the 5A state title, he is going to gain several offers this spring. Wilson is one of the most elusive offensive skill players in Alabama. Humble young man as well.

Carter Davis, ATH, Saraland - 2027

If a person does not know him yet, that will change. Elite talent. Period. Davis will be a national recruit. Davis's grades are in order as well so there's no telling how many offers he's going to end up with.

Joc Prince, CB/ATH, St. Luke's - 2027

Has the frame that often leads to playing cornerback as a primary position. Confident young man.

Seeing and meeting these football prospects and several of their family members is fun. Looking forward to going back down to Mobile soon and getting to know many more football recruits from the greater Mobile area.
