Auburn baseball was projected to finish 6th in the SEC West in the annual preseason poll of the league's 14 head coaches, the league office announced Thursday. Only four teams were chosen as potential league winners, with LSU receiving 11 of a possible 14 votes.

When asked about the 6th place projection, Auburn assistant coach Karl Nonemaker was nonchalant about it. "I think we're used to it. That's just a fact. There's a lot of good teams in our conference, and we're used to it. We know that it doesn't really matter what anybody thinks before the season. That's why you play the games. [...] We're used to being underestimated and honestly, we're pretty comfortable with it. The only thing we care about is the end of season ranking."

Two preseason All-SEC Teams were also announced, with 10 of the 14 teams being represented.

Arkansas, Florida, LSU & Tennessee were the only schools to place two on the first team All-SEC squad, with many of those players projected to be high MLB Draft picks in the 2023 draft, including projected top five picks Dylan Crews, Chase Dollander, Wyatt Langford, and Jacob Gonzalez.

Texas A&M led the conference with five total selections, while LSU & Tennessee each had four and Florida having three. Auburn gets both Texas A&M and LSU at home, with large crowds expected for both. The Texas A&M series is the same weekend as football's A-Day spring game, as well as the dedication of the Frank Thomas statue outside Plainsman Park. LSU comes to town on graduation weekend, always good for a sellout owing to the increased influx of alumni and family in town for the festivities.

Auburn opens the 2023 season on Friday, February 17th with a three-game series against Big Ten foe Indiana. Season tickets sold out for the third straight season, but limited single-game tickets and mini plan options remain; visit aubtix.com to check available inventory. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+, and the radio call with Voice of the Auburn Tigers Andy Burcham and Brad Law can be heard on AuburnTigers.com or locally on 93.9 FM.
