Bruce Pearl: ’We will have a 10-man rotation’

At SEC Media Days, Pearl talked about his plans for Auburn's rotation.

Using a lot of players is nothing new for Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl. Pearl believes in having a deep rotation and this season will be no different.

During Pearl's press conference at SEC Media Days, he elaborated on how deep this roster is and the struggle it has been to establish a starting lineup.

"I told the team last week that I was going to be letting them know this week who the starting five was," Pearl said. "I've not been asked by one player. We've got so much parity, so much competition in each position, I'm not sure they want to know, which I think is a good thing."

Having a lot of competition is a good problem for any coach to have. It is a testament to how Pearl has built a competitive roster.

Pearl talked about how deep he expects his team to be.

"The bad thing is when the ball gets tossed, our five guys may not be that much better than anybody else's five guys," Pearl said. "But when I go to the bench, I'm not dropping off. I'm different, but I'm not dropping off."

Pearl confirmed his plans to once again utilize a deep rotation this season.

"We will have a 10-man rotation," Pearl said. Yeah, I've got some tough decisions to make because literally I literally have I would say almost nine guys out of the 10 that would really anticipate that they're going to be the starter."
