The Auburn Tigers have secured the services of a McDonald's All-American.

While Auburn's class only has two commits and ranks No. 27 nationally, the two 4-star prospects are expected to be important contributors on next season's squad.

The addition of Tahaad Pettiford in particular will prove to be valuable to Auburn next season, as he is now the No. 1 point guard in the 2024 class. Following his No. 1 ranking, Pettiford also earned a spot on the 2024 McDonald's All-American Roster.

Pettiford makes the East roster alongside three other SEC signees - Ole Miss' John Bol and Kentucky's Jayden Quaintance and Boogie Fland. Alabama signees Derrion Reid and Aiden Sherrell made the West roster for the event.

Pettiford, a 5-star guard according to the 247Sports composite ratings, chose the Tigers over the likes of UConn, Kansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, and UCLA.

He fits the mold of typical Bruce Pearl point guards - undersized, but smooth with the ball in his hands and fun in transition. The southpaw should be a valuable addition to Auburn's 2024 backcourt, which could be without either Aden Holloway, Tre Donaldson, or both players.

247Sports' director of scouting Adam Finkelstein describes Pettiford as a "fast, quick and has a ton of pace to his game as he puts constant pressure on opposing defenses." He's "undersized with a wiry build, but long and athletic with an elastic quality about the way he can contort his body."

Pettiford works at both point guard and off the ball, and works best in an off-ball role according to Finkelstein.
