Auburn guard Chance Westry confirms redshirt season for 2022-23
Chance Westry will be taking a redshirt for the 2022-23 season.
Westry, a four-star wing in Auburn's 2023 recruiting class, underwent surgery weeks before the beginning of the Tigers 2022-23 season back in October. Following his recovery, he appeared in 11 contests. Westry hasn't seen the floor since January 4th at Georgia.
He reaggravated the injury and has sat out since.
In an article released by Tom Green of Al.com, Westry noted that he's still not where he needs to be physically.
“It’s like my mind’s there,” Westry said. “My mind wants to be like, ‘Oh, I can go out there and play,’ but then my body is responding like, ‘You need to be a little bit patient,’ you know, just take some time off so I can get back to my old self.”
Westry quote tweeted Al.com's story post on Twitter saying "redshirt season" with a heart emoji.
The Tigers take on Iowa in the opening round of the NCAA tournament tomorrow afternoon.
