Auburn Basketball Stands Atop Latest SEC Power Rankings
The Auburn Tigers are currently on fire.
Auburn (14-2, 3-0 SEC) currently has the nation's sixth-longest active win streak, having won their last nine games. A 3-0 start to SEC play has them tied for first in the conference standings with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Now, they sit on top of the latest SEC power rankings.
SEC Unfiltered recently released their SEC power rankings on Twitter/X, placing Auburn basketball at No. 1. The Tennessee Volunteers come in at No. 2, and the Kentucky Wildcats at No. 3.
The Tigers are also rising in the AP top 25 poll, climbing from No. 16 to No. 13 on Monday morning. Three other SEC teams sit inside the top 25, including Tennessee at No. 6, Kentucky at No. 8, and the Ole Miss Rebels at No. 22. Auburn faces off against the Rebels this weekend inside Neville Arena.
Before they host Ole Miss, however, Auburn travels to Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
"Vanderbilt, right now, sits at the bottom of our league, but all I can see is them have a two-point road loss at Memphis and come down to the end in a game against Alabama," Bruce Pearl said. "And, also, knowing that we got beat there last year. It's gonna be a close game. We haven't had many close games."
The Commodores are statistically the worst team in the SEC by a pretty significant margin. A pair of close games against Alabama and LSU to open the conference slate gave some hope for Jerry Stackhouse's squad, but the 5-11 Commodores are still searching for their first victory since December 30th.
