Johni Broome named SEC Player of the Week

After two dominant performances, Johni Broome has earned SEC Player of the Week honors for the first time.

Following dominant performances against Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, Auburn forward Johni Broome has been named SEC Player of the Week.

Broome, a 6-foot-10 junior from Plant City, Florida, has made an impact in his second season as a Tiger. He is currently averaging 15.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and two assists per game and is shooting 56.3% from the field.

Broome had two solid performances this week which garnered him the honor for the first time.

Against Vanderbilt, Broome had 16 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and five blocks for the 55th double-double of his career. He shot 7-11 from the field and 2-2 from 3-point range.

In the Ole Miss game, Broome scored 15 points which was the 13th game in a row in which he had scored in double-figures. He also had nine rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. He shot 7-13 from the field and 1-3 from 3-point range.

Following two Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors during his time at Morehead State, this marks the third conference player of the week honor of Broome's collegiate career.

Broome and the rest of the Tigers return to action on Wednesday when they host the No. 16 Alabama Crimson Tide at home inside Neville Arena at 6 p.m. CT. The television broadcast can be found on ESPN2 and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
