Auburn commit Labaron Philon named MaxPreps Alabama High School Basketball Player of the Year
Auburn 2024 point guard commit Labaron Philon was named MaxPreps Alabama High School Basketball Player of the Year.
This is a big honor for Philon, but once you hear his season stat line, it will be obvious why he won this award.
Philon averaged 35 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. He can certainly score the basketball with consistency - something the Tigers have been searching for at the guard spot for a couple of seasons.
It's a big accomplishment to score 1,000 points in a high school career. Well, Philon hit this mark in one season, as he scored 1,051 points this year.
According to Jordan Divens of Max Preps, Philon's big year has his career high school point total up to 2,310, which has him on pace to be a top-ten scorer in state history by the time he graduates.
Philon is a six-foot-four point guard, so his size helps him finish, which should translate to the college game well. It will certainly translate to Auburn.
He shot 34 percent from deep this season and has excellent form.
It is scary to think if Philon averaged 35 points his junior year, what he will do as a senior.
