Auburn has reached out to NAU transfer guard Jalen Cone
It's no secret that the Auburn basketball staff will spend the next few months scouring the transfer portal for a lights-out shooter.
They may have found one in Jalen Cone from Northern Arizona. According to Joe Tipton of On3, Auburn has "reached out" to Cone after he entered the portal.
Cone averaged 17.6 points per game a season ago and shot 40% from deep.
He has played four years of college hoops, with his first stop being at Virginia Tech. He played two seasons with the Hokies averaging eight points per game his freshman year and 9.2 his sophomore year.
He then transferred to NAU, where in his junior year, he averaged 18.8 points per game, and of course, last season, he averaged 17.6.
Cone is a proven scorer, but what is so exciting about his game is that he is lethal from three. Cone made three or more triples in 15 of his games this season.
The missing link for Auburn a season ago was a perimeter shooter, and bringing in a player like Cone fixes that issue instantly.
Many schools have reached out to Cone since he put his name in the portal, but he is a player you can expect Coach Pearl to push really hard to land.
It would be a lot of fun to watch Cone splash threes in the Jungle next season.
