South Carolina freshman has a message for the Auburn Tigers ahead of their matchup in the SEC Tournament
Auburn is set to begin its postseason journey against a South Carolina team that is looking for revenge after losing by 40 points in Neville Arena.
The Gamecocks beat Arkansas on Thursday to set up this rematch with the Auburn Tigers in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. This game was close for a while, but South Carolina was able to pull away late and beat an Arkansas team that has been playing better basketball.
Freshman forward Collin Murray-Boyles led the way for the Gamecocks, scoring 24 points on 11-15 shooting from the field. He added seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals to the stat line in the Gamecocks win.
After the game, Murray-Boyles was asked about the matchup with Auburn and said, "It will be tough, but they ain't got The Jungle no more."
While it is true that the Auburn Tigers won't be playing in Neville Arena in front of one of the best environments in college hoops, thousands of fans will still be cheering on the team.
Nashville is a city where Auburn fans always show up, like when the Tigers took on Vanderbilt in football last season, and the stands were full of Tiger fans.
Murray-Boyles message clearly got to the Auburn locked room, so Bruce Pearl will be able to use this as bulletin board material as they prepare for a massive game in the SEC Tournament.
This will be a tough matchup, but if Auburn plays well and values their possessions, they will win this basketball game.
