What did Auburn's Jaylin Williams have to say before the Alabama game?

What did the Auburn forward have to say before the second edition of the 2024 Iron Bowl of Basketball?

The No. 12 Auburn Tigers host the No. 16 Alabama Crimson Tide at Neville Arena tomorrow.

What did Auburn forward Jaylin Williams have to say before the game?

Williams talked about whether or not this game feels bigger than usual.

"I feel like it feels the same pretty much every year," Williams said. "It's a game that both teams feel like they must win for, like, the fans and your family. In, like, 20 years, you can say, 'I beat them my last year.' That would be pretty cool to tell my kids someday."

Williams talked about the importance of offensive rebounding and second-chance points in this game.

"Yeah, so Ole Miss — their guys didn't really go as much," Williams said. "We knew that going in. They didn't really box us out, so we knew we could crash and get put-back dunks and get extra possessions. But we know that, come tomorrow, we've gotta hit first. Box out. Do as much as we can. Don't hurt anybody, but let them know that we're here to play. Set the tone early. Box out and rebound, and that should help us towards winning the game."

Williams talked about how – even though this is a home game – he is unphased by playing on the road.

"It seems to me like I'd rather play on the road, even though I've had some games where I've struggled," Williams said. "But I like to upset other crowds and make big shots and make everybody go, 'Awww.' You know? Things like that excite me on the road. Playing at home, too, is pretty cool or whatever. I don't know. I like away games more than home games. But having The Jungle does help us a lot. Hopefully, it's going to be rowdy tomorrow."

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT. The television broadcast can be found on ESPN and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
