What did Bruce Pearl have to say before Auburn's contest against Georgia?
The No. 13 Auburn Tigers take on the Georgia Bulldogs tomorrow at Neville Arena.
What did Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl have to say before the game?
Pearl talked about how competitive Georgia can be.
"For Georgia, eight out of their 11 losses in the SEC have been by less than 10 points," Pearl said. "I mean, they put 90-something on Kentucky at Kentucky. They were down 20 at Florida and came back and sent it into overtime. They beat South Carolina at South Carolina. In Athens, they lost by, like, five to Tennessee. They had a 3-point loss at Arkansas, a 1-point loss at LSU. They're a good team."
Pearl talked about Jaylin Williams' contributions to the program with senior day being tomorrow.
"I don't know if I would've anticipated Jaylin being a five-year guy," Pearl said. "And that's from the standpoint of thinking that he could come in and be successful as a freshman — because he was bouncy and could do things inside and out. But his freshman year, he came into a veteran team. It really wasn't until Danjel (Purifoy) or Isaac (Okra had an injury where he was getting some significant minutes as a freshman. And then you went, 'Uh oh. This guy is going to be really good.'"
Pearl talked about this team having a chance to win 13 conference games, being only the second team during his time at Auburn to do so.
"I don't know that I saw it coming, in the sense that I thought that we had 11 really good players and really good depth," Pearl said. "I thought we had the potential to have great chemistry, because we had good kids. I thought that this was a good team that had a chance to be very good. It turned out, at this point, to be a very good team that has a chance to be great."
Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CT. The television broadcast can be found on SEC Network and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
