What did Chaney Johnson have to say before Auburn's game against Georgia?
The No. 14 Auburn Tigers take on the Georgia Bulldogs on the road tomorrow.
What did Auburn forward Chaney Johnson have to say before the game?
Johnson talked about how beneficial the bye week was for the team.
"It was just refreshing," Johnson said. "Me coming from a D-2, we were playing, but it wasn't the same intensity and attention to detail. Kind of just allowing your brain to have a little reset in between games, and allowing us to come into the Georgia game really focused on just one game instead of playing on Wednesday, then turning around after Wednesday and getting ready for the next game. It allows us to lock in on this one opponent."
Johnson talked about taking on a bigger role due to Jaylin Williams missing due to injury.
"I would say in total I'm just trying to lock in more," Johnson said. "I wouldn't say I'm locking in more because of J-Will being hurt. Just coming off the Kentucky game, it kind of threw me off a little bit. Seeing him get hurt, now I'm expecting him to come in the game and make a big change. I really didn't affect the game how I wanted to. Just trying to be better for this team, not just because J-Will is hurt. Just being better, period."
Johnson talked about how motivated he is to have a strong finish to the regular season.
"If I'm putting in the most work or working myself out as hard as I can, after my career is over I won't have any regrets," Johnson said. "So why not just give it all that I've got? Coming in here, seeing these guys getting in the gym kind of motivated me a little bit more. I worked hard in DII, but it was just a different level. I was like, 'I've got to step my game up a little bit more.' These guys pushing me day in and day out really, really set that flame to the fire."
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. CT. The television broadcast can be found on SEC Network and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app.
